Evaluation Process

1

Product Acquisition

Products are acquired through direct brand submission or anonymous retail purchase to ensure manufacturing consistency and prevent sample manipulation.

2

Initial Assessment

Visual inspection, documentation review, and preliminary measurements establish baseline specifications and identify applicable testing protocols.

3

Laboratory Testing

Controlled environment testing using calibrated equipment over a defined evaluation period. All tests are performed in repeatable sequences to support consistency and internal validation.

4

Real-World Validation

User testing with diverse body types and experience levels provides qualitative feedback on usability, comfort, and practical performance.

5

Data Analysis & Scoring

Quantitative and qualitative data are analyzed using weighted scoring models. Findings are subject to a secondary internal review process prior to final score assignment.

Framework Review & Updates

The evaluation framework is subject to periodic internal review. Methodology updates, threshold adjustments, and protocol changes are documented and versioned to ensure transparency and consistency over time.

Scoring Framework

Our 100-point scoring system evaluates products against objective performance benchmarks and defined evaluation criteria. Scores reflect absolute quality and are independent of price, marketing claims, or competitor comparisons.

90 – 100
FitnessTest Certified™ — Exceptional Performance

Industry-leading performance across all evaluation categories.

80 – 89
FitnessTest Certified™ — Excellent Performance

Superior quality with minor areas for improvement.

70 – 79
FitnessTest Certified™ — Verified Performance

Solid performance meeting high standards.

60 – 69
FitnessTest Certified™ — Performance Tested

Meets baseline requirements with notable limitations.

Below 60
Not Certified

Does not meet the evaluation threshold.

Quality Threshold Policy

Products scoring below 60 points (out of 100) do not receive certified status. All evaluated products, regardless of score, are documented in the Public Evaluation Registry with complete test results and performance data.

This threshold ensures that only products meeting defined quality and performance benchmarks may display the certification reference in marketing materials or product packaging.

Independence & Commercial Neutrality

FitnessTest operates independently of manufacturers, retailers, advertisers, and commercial platforms. Evaluation outcomes cannot be purchased, influenced, or negotiated.

Testing methodologies are informed by publicly available sports science research and applicable consumer safety standards, and are periodically reviewed to ensure relevance and consistency with evolving market practices.
